Day 8 - Last Day in Vietnam

Today's the last full day we had in Vietnam. We got up and had breakfast relatively late. We left the hotel around 11 to head to the Vietnamese army mueseum (one of the few things left in the city we hadn't see), however it didn't open till 1 so we had an hour and a half to kill. We decided to walk over to the temple of literature which was a 5 minute walk away. From the place was a large courtyard with buildings and relics scattered about. From what I could gather the place was used since the early 1400s as a school/temple for students.

The temple of literature was much more relaxing than the hectic streets of Hanoi so we decided to hang out there for a while.

-No clue what this is but it looked pretty cool. There were many other things like this.

Once it was one we left and headed over to the army museum. The museum had tons of old planes, tanks, and other vehicles and weapons that were used in the war. Again it was really interesting to see theVietnamese perspective of the war.

They also had a big tower with a flag, appropriately called 'Flag Tower' which you could climb about half way up.

The museum also had some pre Vietnam war artifacts from the Vietnamese conflicts with the French and Chinese.

After the museum I reallyyy wanted to go to Le Mat, the snake village, and try eating cobra. However, my dad was being a ...for the sake of keeping this blog pg...huge baby and didn't want to go. This was royally frustrating. We ended up going to some random place on the street instead. After eating my dad decided he wanted to lay in the hotel the rest of the day, our last day in Vietnam mind you! So after a few hours of being couped up I couldn't take it anymore and went out into the city by myself to explore some more and get some dinner. I ended up at a small street shop near our hotel that had different types of kebabs. I ended up having a beef one, chicken one, and a squid one. All of them were good! While at the restaurant I started talking with an older ditch couple that was sitting by me (everyone was next to each other since it was a small restaurant). Anyway they were really cool and I talked to them for a few hours about travel and the Holland (where Dutch people are from). We had to leave at 11 since that's when everything closes down in Hanoi. Tomorrow we leave for Luang Prabang, Laos which is an hour flight to the west.
